The “Color Witches” series is an ongoing personal project of mine, meant to challenge my understanding of color, character and environment design. For every shade of the color wheel I develop one witchy and magical character and familiar with a little background story and paint them, limiting myself to one color hue and black and white. Their houses, rooms and whatever other corners they inhabit are painted in an analogous color scheme after to give them a little more variety.
While in the beginning this was mostly meant as a way to further my understanding of color and push myself to design more varied characters it evolved over time into building a little universe with its own rules and stories to tell.
