In early 2023 I connected with multimedia artist Brendan van Meter (Beaconhouse Media LLC) regarding animated 2D shorts using existing characters of the educational Youtube Series “Let’s learn with Mr Ritz”. He needed additional character designs for 3 different animal species, that were supposed to be cute and relatable.
It was important to keep the designs simple and flat, as the animation was realized in vector based shapes. We designed the three animal character sets and the final result were digitally painted turnarounds and concepts for the animators. To make it easier on the vector artists and to make sure the designs worked as intended I also included a vectorized version of one of the animal characters as a style guide. The shorts were aired in early 2024.
