The Street of Crocodiles is a personal illustration project for the german version of the book called "Zimtläden" by the polish writer Bruno Schulz, which came out in 1934. It's a collection of childhood memories of growing up in his home town, but warped and twisted trough his imagination, often to a point where it's hard do tell what is real and what isn't.
The stories are at once magical, poetic and disturbing and i wanted to emulate that hazy feeling and the dreamlike quality. As a connection to the father figure's obsession with needlework, tailor's dummies and their secret consciousness i used thread in different variations for every image.
