“The boy who is not really there” is a personal project of mine that i did both the writing and illustration for. It’s about a boy and his perception of the world and also about how that world perceives him.

This little one is a little odd, a little different, quiet and unresponsive. The first half of the story centers around how others see him and how strange and ill-fitted to society he seems, his face passive and blank. The latter part of this book however shows the same situations through his lens, a world full of wonders and unknown pitfalls opens up.

At the end he himself is actually quite ok with himself.

The main theme of this story is the different views we have on the same matter, how fast we are at times to judge each others flaws and ultimately the worth of self-acceptance.

It doesn’t aim to offer solutions but some comfort for those who, exactly like this little one, might not quite fit others expectations.
